Oceana Mackenzie

Have you ever finished that super hard project at your gym only to turn around see a young prodigy warming on it? If not, than you haven’t met Oceana. At 15 years young she is well on the way to becoming one of Australia’s greatest exports. She is a member of the Australian youth team for Bouldering, Lead and speed climbing.  Even though she is technically too young to compete with the Adults, she routinely trumps them all as a wildcard competitor. Not to be limited by the boundaries of indoor climbing, Oceana also crushes outdoors having sent multiple hard boulders up in the double digits!

If there is any up and coming athlete you should be keeping your eye on, it’s Oceana.

Age: 15

How long have you been climbing for: I’ve been climbing for 5 years now

Favorite movie: Lord of the rings the return of the king

Proudest Climbing Achievement: Making the high point on  the Women’s Open A Final at the 2016 Australian Lead Nationals (Due to Oce’s age she was only granted a wildcard position and was not eligible to take the title!)
If you were stranded on an island and could have only three things what would you take: I would take food, water and Concept Climbing Crag board

Your top 3 comp results: 1st in Youth B 2016 Boulder Nationals, 1st youth C 2015 Lead Nationals, 1st in youth C 2014 Lead nationals,

What would you spend your last $50 on: Lululemon

Comp Climbing or Outdoor climbing: Both are amazing in different ways, I can’t choose!! I love them both.
